Tournament Summary
The Basics:
This year Fall Fest will be home to the Inaugural Texas Invitational Wakeboard Tournament hosted by Texas Wake. The Tournament will be the largest Collegiate Wakeboard Tournament of the year and will feature the first Collegiate Cable Wakeboard National Championship. Even more important than the competition, the Invitational is a charity event - with 100% of the net proceeds of the event going to the Austin Children's Shelter - a wonderful local charity whose mission is to provide high quality care and shelter to the abused, neglected and abandoned children of our community. Here's what's going to happen as part of the Invitational:
Cable Collegiate Nationals: Fall Fest will be home for the first Cable Collegiate Nationals. This will be an individual competition and will feature the best collegiate cable riders from across the country. The format will be the Cable Wake Park Series format two lap plus wildcard format. The breakdown of individuals' scores will be 35% kickers, 35% sliders, 15% Air tricks (includes carving an ollie tricks), and 15% composition. And to make it more interesting, in addition to the individual competition, we will incorporate a team competition. Here, we will allow each schools top five finishers the chance to earn points respective to their place in the contest and add them together. These five finishes will consist of three male wakeboarders, one wakeskater, and one female wakeboarder. The team with the highest score will take home the title. To be clear, you do not have to declare the four riders on your team, we will take the four best finishes from your school, so feel free to bring the whole crew and improve your odds.
Celebrity Challenge: Three of the area's best wakeboard schools (TSR, Freeride Wakeboard School and Lake Lessons) have teamed up for charity to coach three local celebrities for an INT-styled boat competition. Our celebrities include Matt Mitchell (The KVUE Sportscaster), Lesley McCaslin (News 8), and Sean Adams (1530 ESPN). The cameras will start rolling Friday afternoon!
Wakeskate Skeeball: The pros will challenge a college all-star team in a Texas Ski Ranch vintage Skeeball Tournament on the cable lake. This is where each competitor will ride a wakeskate off of the Texas Ski Ranch kicker, lose the skate in mid air, and try to land withing a one of a series of rings floating on the surface of the water that decrease in size while increasing in point value the further they are placed from the jump. To make it even more interesting, for every full rotation (flip or spin) the rider will multiply the value of the ring they land in. However, if they miss the rings, they make will score no points.
Concerts, Silent Auction, and Raffle: Our festival will keep it weird in the best of Austin traditions with concert line-ups Friday and Saturday. We will also be raising money for the Austin Children's Shelter through silent auctions and raffles throughout the weekend. The auction and raffle will be full of wake industry loot as the industry has lined up behind this event and this cause!
